VENUS FALLS IN THIRD

Venus Williams has been defeated in the third round of the Women’s tennis Singles tournament of London Olympics by Angelique Kerber of Germany. Angelique won the match in the straight sets by 7-6 (5), 7-6 (5). It was a very close encounter and both the sets went into the tie breaker. But, the German youngster held her nerves in both the tie breakers and won the match to secure a berth in the quarter finals.

Kerber broke the service of Venus in the very first game of the match and then held his service in the following game to make the score 2-0. But, Venus was also able to get a breakthrough in the eighth game and the scores were leveled at 4-4. Towards the end of the first set, both the players broke the service of each other to tie the score at 6-6. In the tie breaker, Venus didn’t play that well and lost the first set. The story of the second set is pretty similar to the first one. Both the players got one breakthrough in the second set and the scores were tied again. Once again, Kerber performed brilliantly in the tie breaker and knocked Venus out of the competition.

Venus had been playing well in this competition. In the last two matches, she had shown her old class. She played well in this match as well, but, she missed some opportunities in the tie breaker and that proved costly for her. In the post match press conference, Venus said that she got demoralized after losing the first set. As per Venus, she tried her best in the second set, but, it was not her day and she lost the match. On the other hand, Kerber was delighted after beating Venus. In the quarter final, Kerber will play against the no. 1 player in the world, Victoria Azarenka.

DJOKOVIC THROUGH TO SEMIS

Novak Djokovic has defeated Tommy Haas of Germany in the quarter final of the Rogers Cup. Djokovic won the match by 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. The scorecard itself says that Djokovic had to work hard to knock the experienced German player out of the tournament. Haas rattled Djokovic with some fantastic groundstrokes in the second set. However, the Serbian superstar didn’t let Haas to pull off an upset and secured a place in the final 4.

Djokovic started the match in fine style and broke the service of Haas in the fourth game of the first set to take a lead of 3-1. Djokovic held his service in the next game and made the score 4-1. Hard to Control Emotions

The British tennis star, Andy Murray, has said that it was very hard to control the emotions after losing the Wimbledon final. The 25 year old tennis sensation cried a lot while addressing the people after the match. First of all, he gave congratulations to the great Roger Federer. Federer won the 7th singles title at Wimbledon, which is a record. He said the winning a singles title at Wimbledon is very hard and if you are playing in Federer’s era, it gets even harder.

Andy Murray belongs to Dunblane, which is a place in Scotland. He gave some consistent performances in the last few years but, he is not able to win a Grand Slam yet. He is currently positioned at no. 4 in the official rankings of World Tennis Association (WTA). But, unfortunately, he is playing in an era which is dominated by three legends of tennis i.e. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Murray said that playing against Federer is very difficult. As per Murray, he made a good start by winning the first set. But, once Federer got into the groove, it was almost impossible to stop him.

When Murray was in tears after the match, many British supporters were also crying with him. The British people had massive hopes with Murray in the Wimbledon Championship of this year. He said that people of Britain gave him enormous support and due to their support, it became very easy for him to perform well. He said that he is gutted and it would take him some time to get rid of this disappointment. However, he said that, he would try again and again and hopefully, would win a Grand Slam pretty soon. The words of Andy Murray were so sentimental that his fans have started respecting him a lot more than before.

Federer Deserves Top Spot, says Djokovic

As Roger Federer waltzed past world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi final to seal his place in the final of Wimbledon at the All England Club, many people opined that the grass court surface, the Swiss player’s favorite surface had handed him the advantage over the Serbian ace, who is more accustomed to playing on the hard courts than the grass courts.

However, The Djoker does not believe in what is being said about FedEx and admitted that the Swiss Master deserved to be in the final of the greatest spectacle on the tennis calendar.
